Finite element analysis of small-scale hot compression testing

چکیده

This paper models hot compression testing using a dilatometer in loading mode. These small-scale tests provide high throughput at low cost, but are susceptible to inhomogeneity due friction and temperature gradients. A novel method is presented for correcting the true stress-strain constitutive response over full range of temperatures, strain-rates strain. The nominal from used predict offset curves inhomogeneity, this stress ?? applied piecewise data, one iteration. key new feature smoothing fitting flow data as function strain-rate, multiple discrete strains. corrected model then provides quantitative prediction spatial temporal variation strain-rate strain throughout sample, needed correlate local deformation conditions with microstructure texture evolution. study uses detailed series 144 Zr-Nb alloy. While an important wrought nuclear alloy its own right, it also serves here test case modelling alloys, particularly those dual ?-? phase microstructures (such titanium alloys).

Correcting the stress-strain curve in hot compression test using finite element analysis and Taguchi method

In the hot compression test friction has a detrimental influence on the flow stress through the process and therefore, correcting the deformation curve for real behavior is very important for both researchers and engineers. In this study, a series of compression tests were simulated using Abaqus software. In this study, it has been employed the Taguchi method to design experiments by the factor...

Modal Testing and Finite Element Analysis of Crack Effects on Turbine Blades

The study of vibration response of a turbine blade helps to detect the crack presence in the blade which alters its dynamic characteristics. The change is characterized by changes in the modal parameters associated with natural frequencies. In this paper, study of vibration response is made for turbine blade in the presence of a crack like defect. Turbine blade is initially assumed as a cantile...
